Abstract

This paper aims to revisit key moments in the author's professional journey as an educator, constituting a segment of her life history. It outlines the early stages of her teacher training, beginning with her studies at the Annexed Primary School of the Matanzas Teacher Training College. While still a student at the teacher training school, she reflects on the institution's profound impact on her personal and professional development. Here, she began her educational work, emphasizing the significance of her participation in the “Conrado Benítez” Literacy Brigade—an initiative organized by the school—which led her to teach in a remote rural area in the easternmost province of Cuba. The narrative continues with her professional trajectory following graduation, highlighting her roles at the secondary and, subsequently, the higher education levels. The author underscores that the foundation of her vocation was laid during her formative years under the guidance of devoted educators who imparted valuable knowledge and inspired her to engage in meaningful tasks that shaped her worldview. This developmental process, rooted in her youth, included the internalization of universal human values essential to educational practice at all levels of instruction. The study adopts a qualitative methodology characteristic of life history as a form of biographical research. It is descriptive and emphasizes the importance of narrating and interpreting the author's experiences, reconstructing and tracing the thread that links various episodes in her life over time. The work includes an updated bibliography consistent with this type of study.
