Abstract
This article reflects on the contribution of the research hologram, created by Hurtado de Barrera (2012), as a methodological resource for decision making in contexts mediated by artificial intelligence. It is recognized that research involves a deliberative process in which each decision has consequences for the coherence and quality of the knowledge produced. The incorporation of artificial intelligence into academic processes represents both an opportunity and a risk: although it optimizes tasks and expands access to information, its probabilistic nature may lead to uncritical decisions and to the homogenization of knowledge. Faced with this challenge, the research hologram offers a forward-looking vision of the study, allowing the researcher to evaluate AI-generated proposals according to their coherence with the whole. The mediating function of the hologram between the researcher and automated systems is analyzed, and the formative responsibility of the methodological advisor as guarantor of research autonomy is highlighted. It is concluded that conducting research in the AI era demands greater methodological rigor, and that the hologram constitutes an orienting resource that harmonizes the complexity of the process with the multiplicity of available tools, and preserves the centrality of the person who conducts research. This approach strengthens critical decision making and promotes a balanced integration between human and artificial intelligence in research processes. Likewise, the need for continuous ethical and methodological training for researchers using artificial intelligence systems in contemporary academic processes is emphasized in the responsible construction of scientific knowledge in contexts of current high technological complexity and increasing algorithmic mediation in academic research environments worldwide today and beyond frameworks.
