Abstract
This text critically examines the expansion of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America, questioning narratives that present it as a modernizing solution while overlooking the region’s structural inequalities. It analyzes its risks in education, justice, and social services, particularly in relation to algorithmic bias, technological dependency, and the loss of local autonomy. It also argues for strengthening regional capacities for research, regulation, and contextualized appropriation, guiding the development of AI toward social justice, inclusion, diversity, and collective well-being.
