Abstract

With the growing demand for energy in the XXI century, it is necessary to analyze a micro-grid that provides service to a small factory dedicated to the manufacture of construction materials and the provision of services of machinery and formwork for construction, the factory is located in the city of Azogues-Ecuador. It is classified as a Low Voltage Industrial Artisanal service by the ARCERNNR and is currently supplied by the three-phase electrical network of the Distribution Company, where it has a variable energy demand with monthly peaks of up to 10,525 kW and an average daily consumption of 34.30 kWh. The working hours are from 07:00 to 18:00, where the aim is to see the feasibility of incorporating renewable energies, using historical data from NASA where they indicate favorable conditions for solar panels and wind turbines. The proposed Micro-Grid combines these resources with energy storage by means of batteries and a connection to the external grid. Simulations were performed with HOMER Pro identifying optimal solutions, with a cost of energy (COE) as low as $0.09/kWh and a renewable contribution of up to 78.2%. Alternative scenarios confirmed the robustness of this configuration. The implementation of the Micro-Grid guarantees a stable energy supply, reduces carbon emissions, improves energy independence and is financially attractive in the long term.
