Abstract

This work is the foundation for a study about the Wayuunaki and Spanish bilingual status in the Colombian Guajira. This study is based on some interviews applied in order to describe the grammar and lexical development of these languages. This article also characterizes the linguistic and cognitive development of children between 08-15 and 15-30 months of age, by applying the Mac Arthur communicative development inventory.
