Abstract
Research has developed modeling and simulation of an direct current electric train (DC), powered by a third rail. Mathematical mode ling was performed using the characteristic equations that model a DC electric motor, and the results were obtained by simulation through the Simulink, SymMechanics, SymPowerSystems of MATLAB. The simulation understood the whole system of power and traction rails, modele d by nonlinear resistors, and train propulsion system was developed through mathematical an alysis, managing to obtain graphs of speed, power and acceleration, which validated the proposed system.
